When pop star Charli XCX releases her fifth studio album on March 18, she heads out on a world tour starting in California and stopping in Boston on April 20. The new album, Crash, features collaborations with artists like The 1975 and will be the musician’s final album with her current Atlantic Records deal.
Charlotte Emma Aitchison, better known as Charli XCX, began her musical career in the early 2010s playing warehouse raves. The English singer-songwriter shot to fame in 2013 with her Icona Pop collaboration “I Love It,” which hit number 7 on the Billboard Hot 100.
While her second album ventured into the pop-punk sphere, Charli XCX’s other songs include hyper-pop hits like “Boom Clap” and “Boys.” She’s helped write other pop favorites in recent years, too, like Selena Gomez’s “Same Old Love,” Iggy Azalea’s “Fancy,” and Shawn Mendes’ and Camila Cabello’s “Señorita.” Her most recent album release, 2020’s How I’m Feeling Now, was written and recorded in the span of six weeks during the pandemic’s first lockdown.
Charli XCX makes her first appearance as Saturday Night Live’s musical guest on March 5, alongside host Oscar Isaac. Her SNL performance was rescheduled from Dec. 18, 2021, when she canceled amid the omicron surge.
Tickets are currently on sale for Charli XCX’s House of Blues show, with prices starting at $70.
