Watch a breakdance battle in Boston ahead of the sport’s Olympic debut

Winners will advance to the Red Bull BC One National Finals ahead of the World Finals.

The global breakdancing competition, Red Bull BC One, is heading to Cambridge. Sixteen male and 16 female breakdancers from the Northeast will battle for the top spot. Winners will advance to the Red Bull BC One National Finals in Los Angeles ahead of the World Finals.

The competition is hosted by Boston-native Lean Rock, a member of the legendary Boston hip-hop crew, the Floor Lords.

In the days leading up to the main competition on Saturday, Aug. 20, the Red Bull BC One All-Star Tour will also host various dance workshops and community panels with the biggest names in breakdancing throughout Boston beginning on Wednesday, Aug. 17, including 2022 Red Bull BC One World Champion, Logistx, and local legend Lean Rock.

The Red Bull BC One competition takes place on Saturday, Aug. 20, at the Sinclair. Doors open at 1 p.m., with the preliminaries at 2 p.m. and the main event at 5 p.m.
