Step out for Joe Jackson’s ‘Sing, You Sinners!’ tour at the Schubert Theatre

Jackson plans to include some solo "mini-sets" as well as material that hasn't been performed in awhile — or ever.

During his last tour in 2019, Joe Jackson celebrated a 40-year career full of unlikely hits — “Is She Really Going Out With Him?,” “Stepping Out,” and “Breaking Us in Two” among them — and marked by forays into new wave, jazz, pop, and swing, among other detours.

Now, he’s back with a new tour called “Sing, You Sinners!” That tour is set to hit the Shubert Theatre at 8 p.m. on May 19.

Jackson released his first album, “Look Sharp,” in January of 1979. “Fool,” his latest, was released in 2019. He drew from these two albums, as well as 1982’s “Night and Day,” 1991’s “Laughter and Lust,” and “Rain,” released in 2008, for his 40th anniversary tour.

“We want to celebrate the fact that this is happening after 40 years — anything else would be like sulking in a room by yourself on your own birthday party,” Jackson said at the time, according to The Arts Fuse.

This new tour includes the band that toured with him three years ago, and also played on his last album, according to the Boch Center. Along with the band, there will also be a “mini-set” with Joe soloing, according to Brooklyn Vegan.

“He also promises to play songs ‘that haven’t been heard live in many years,’ and new material,” the publication said.

“Watch out also for some surprises, including some completely new material,” confirmed the Boch Center.
